The Locksmith Behind Palm Beach Security and Safes
Roger Jordan, a local practicing locksmith for more than two decades, began as an apprentice for his father who has been a professional in the trade for more than 40 years. With a sixth sense since he was a kid for taking things apart to see how they worked and putting them back together again successfully, Roger took to the work immediately. In addition to running his company, Roger also supports and educates about the importance of requiring locksmiths to be licensed and bonded.

“This is a knowledge base and skill set,” Jordan says, “that if employed by the wrong element can be disastrous not just to individuals who might fall victim to unscrupulous locksmiths, but also to the industry as a whole. It only takes one bad apple to tarnish the image of the trade.”

According to Jordan, he’s hoping in the not-too-distant future for Florida to require licensure in all counties, passage of a written and practical exam and a standard of behavior, ethics and best practices. “The vast majority of locksmiths are upstanding, productive citizens,” he says. “But for all intents and purposes, you’re giving a stranger a key to your home or business. Without regulation, if he’s gone to the dark side, there’s not a lot of recourse.”
